Doctor Maelstrom is a supervillain-turned-hero, though he was only ever first-rate super and second-rate villain. His powers are based off of increased strength, speed, intelligence, stamina, etc. as well as a plethora of gadgets, inventions, suits, and vehicles. He loves epic battles and special effects, and if he has a choice between a more efficient plan or a more dramatic plan, he takes the latter and shows up with slow-motion cameras placed in the vicinity. He was never particularly evil, he just had fun being the “bad boy.” Deep down, he had a pretty good idea of what’s right and wrong, although Dr. Maelstrom had gotten fairly good at rationalizing his fun, usually involving the phrase, “Well, it’s not really hurting anybody that bad,” or “I’ll fix it as soon as I’m done.” During his villain era, he was unaligned with any other villains, though occasionally got recruited to provide diversions for more evil plans. It wasn't until Quantis overthrew the Galactic Armada that he really gave a second thought to being a villain. Several years later, he redirected his efforts to humanitarian purposes, and shortly thereafter was convinced to join the SuperNaturals.
